Ellen Ramp, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor

Dr. Ellen Ramp earned her Ph.D. in Elementary Education with an emphasis in literacy education from The University of Southern Mississippi in 2007. She has an undergraduate degree in Journalism from Southern Illinois University and a master’s degree in Library Science from Peabody College of Vanderbilt University. She served as a school library media specialist and reading specialist and has over 20 years of experience in school settings. Dr. Ramp currently teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of literacy, with a special interest in reading assessment and intervention. Her current research areas are related to reading fluency, cooperative teaching, and teacher preparation. She works closely with school districts in supervising students in clinical experiences and provides professional development opportunities for school districts. She is a member of the Mississippi Reading Association, The International Reading Association, and the Mid-South Regional Education Association.
