Teacher Assistant Program

Degree Requirements

 

Written and Oral Communication (6 hrs) plus Senior Seminar (3 hrs)

  • ENG 101 (Composition I)
  • ENG 102 (Composition II)
  • Senior Seminar (Teacher Candidacy)

Global History and Culture (12 hrs)

Aesthetic Values (3 hrs)

Basic Science and Math (11 hrs)

  • Select 2 lab sciences in a selected discipline approved under General Degree Requirements (see
    Undergraduate Bulletin)
  • MAT 101

Decision Making and Responsibility (3 hrs)

COLLEGE OF EDUCATION AND PSYCHOLOGY CORE REQUIREMENTS: (included in 44 hr core)

College General Core courses

*PreRequisites for the Introductory Block courses:
44-46 hour Core Curriculum with a 2.65 GPA
Passing PRAXIS I (or equivalent, ACT, SAT)
Passing BTLE2 (Basic Technology Literacy Exam),
And K-6 Highly Qualified ENDORSEMENTS:

  • English (9 additional hrs)
  • Social Studies (9 additional hrs)
  • Foreign Languages (21 hrs)
  • Mathematics (9 additional hrs)
  • Science (10 additional hrs)

*All teachers will have a supplemental Reading Add-On
Minimum grade is C

Introductory Block Teacher Education (Gold card required) (15 hrs)

Intermediate Block Co-requisite courses (Gold card required) (15 hrs)

Senior Block Co-requisite courses (Gold Card Required) (17 hrs)

Teacher Candidacy (12 hrs)

Complete all program courses before teacher candidacy.
