Writing seeks to recognize and celebrate all forms of writing and their authors. At USM, we want to do the same. Much of the work in the Composition classroom is building a community of writers to help students better understand that writing is a social act and that language is power. Our celebration, Eagles Write!, will not only celebrate our students’ hard work and ingenuity, but will also help them to see the public work of the texts they produce. We want to recognize them as the authors they are. Therefore, the Eagles Write! celebration will consist of a month-long public exhibit of nominated student writing (displayed in Cook Library Learning Commons) and will culminate in a student reading and reception on October 20, 2014 in the Polymer Science Auditorium from 4-6 PM.
