TEACH Grant Eligibility
Grant Eligibility
To be eligible for the TEACH Grant you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Complete a FAFSA, although you do not have to demonstrate financial need to be eligible
- Complete TEACH Grant entrance counseling and sign a TEACH Grant Agreement to Service (ATS) each year
- Be enrolled in coursework or plan to complete coursework toward a career in teaching in a high-need subject area
- Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 as a high school graduate and maintain that GPA throughout your academic program OR score above the 75th percentile on at least one section (English, math, reading) of a national standardized college admission test (SAT or ACT).
To be eligible to apply for the TEACH Grant students must be enrolled in one of the following Southern Miss degree programs and have and maintain at least a 3.25 Cumulative GPA each semester. Funds will not disburse to a student's account until student establishes a 3.25 Southern Miss cumulative GPA.

If you receive the TEACH Grant but do not fulfill the requirements of the program, your grant will convert to a Federal Direct Unsubsidized loan, which you will have to repay with interest calculated back to the date the funds were disbursed.
Once it converts to a loan it can never go back to a grant.
