What is ELM?

ELM Resources makes student loan management tasks simple, easy, and flexible. The ELM system provides you with real time tracking of your Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) and alternative loans through the Internet.

Southern Miss and our lenders, guarantors, and servicers cooperate to provide you with a common data exchange system so that you have complete access to your loan history. ELM Resources is a not-for-profit company supported by the lenders, guarantors, and servicers who are its members.

A Short History of ELM

ELM was established in 1994 by a group of FFELP providers who wanted to improve loan processing for their customers by using technology and cooperation to create a uniform data exchange network. By pooling resources, lenders could deliver services without having to create separate systems (which would simply create more work for schools).

ELM is a network that provides you with a single point of data exchange. It is not a Single Point Of Contact (SPOC). You have the advantage of a single network interface while still maintaining complete freedom of choice in loan providers.
