Russian, Italian, and Chinese: The department will offer Russian, Italian and Chinese 101 starting in the fall of 2012. Chinese will meet on Tuesday and Thursdays from 11:00-12:15 p.m.  Italian will be offered on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00-9:50 a.m. The Russian schedule will be announced soon.

Latin: A full spectrum of intensive Latin courses will be offered during Summer 2012. Summer instruction provides students the opportunity to gain an entire year of Latin study in a concentrated 10-week format. First- and second-year Latin courses are available, as well as an upper-division reading course (Latin 445) on the letters of Pope Gregory the Great (r. 590-604 CE). Latin learning remains critical not only to the student of the Roman Empire or the Early Church, but to aspiring physicians, botanists, biologists, and attorneys. Ours is one of few universities in the region to offer intensive summer Latin courses to students at every stage of competency. For further information about our Summer Latin Program, please contact Miles Doleac at miles.doleac@usm.edu.
