Bishop Award Nominations

Established in 1978 by Ms. Elna Bishop, the Judge R.J. Bishop Award honors men and women who have endured economic hardships to pursue education so that they, thier children, and other Mississippians might have a better life.

The students that are nominated must be graduating seniors, native Mississippians and have a record of work ethic and determination that shows success in spite of difficulties.

The award will be presented on March 31 at the annual Founder's Day ceremony.

Nominations must include the application form with a letter of nomination. Please coordinate nominations within departments. Return only one application form per student. Additional letters of recommendation may be attached to the application form.

Letters of nomination and recommendation should include the following information:

• Work record while attending school
• School record that indicates success
• Reasons why the nominee should be considered for the award
