Grand Marshal Award

 

Nominations: Nominations for the Grand Marshall Award are being solicited from faculty, staff, administrators or self-nominations. Nominations must be submitted by Friday, March 3rd and can be mailed ( Box 5002 ) or hand-delivered to the Office of the Provost (Lucas Administration building, room 201) or emailed to Susie.Plymale@usm.edu .

 

Description: This award recognizes a senior faculty member who has excelled in teaching, research, and service. The award recipient will be recognized and serve as Grand Marshal for commencement ceremonies for one calendar year (May - Hattiesburg and Gulf Coast - and December ceremonies).

 

Eligibility: Full-time faculty members who hold the rank of Full Professor and have a minimum of ten years experience at USM are eligible for nomination. Individuals who have received the award twice are ineligible for future consideration.

 

Supporting Documentation: Nominees should submit no later than March 17th the following: a vita; one 500 word summary statement of teaching, research and service accomplishments, and; two letters of support (one from a faculty member or administrator and one from a student). The packet of information can be mailed (Box 5002) or hand-delivered to the Office of the Provost (Lucas Administration building, room 201) or emailed to Susie.Plymale@usm.edu .

 

 

 

Junior Faculty Outstanding Teaching Award

 

Description: This award recognizes a junior faculty member who has demonstrated outstanding teaching ability.

 

Eligibility: Full-time, tenure track faculty members who hold the rank of Assistant Professor with five or fewer years of service at USM are eligible for nomination. Individuals who have received the award once are ineligible for future consideration.

 

Supporting Documentation: Nominees should submit the following: a vita; one 500 word summary statement of teaching philosophy, and; letters of support (not more than three from faculty members or administrators and not more than three from students).

 

Junior Faculty Creative Activity Award

 

Description: This award recognizes a junior faculty member who has demonstrated unique creative ability.

 

Eligibility: Full-time, tenure track faculty members who hold the rank of Assistant Professor with five or fewer years of service at USM are eligible for nomination. Individuals who have received the award once are ineligible for future consideration.

 

Supporting Documentation: Nominees should submit the following: a vita; one 500 word summary statement of creative accomplishment, and; letters of support (not more than three from faculty members or administrators and not more than three from students).


 

Junior Faculty Research Award

 

Description: This award recognizes a junior faculty member who has demonstrated exceptional research ability.

 

Eligibility: Full-time, tenure track faculty members who hold the rank of Assistant Professor with five or fewer years of service at USM are eligible for nomination. Individuals who have received the award once are ineligible for future consideration.

 

Supporting Documentation: Nominees should submit the following: a vita; one 500 word summary statement of research accomplishment, and; letters of support (not more than three from faculty members or administrators and not more than three from students).

 

Mentoring Award

 

Description: This award recognizes a faculty member who has provided professional / educational mentorship to faculty / students.

 

Eligibility: Full-time, tenure track faculty members at the rank of Assistant Professor or above with three or more years of service at USM are eligible for nomination. Individuals who have received the award twice are ineligible for future consideration.

 

Supporting Documentation: Nominees should submit the following: a vita; one 500 word summary statement of mentoring activities and philosophy, and; letters of support (not more than three from faculty members or administrators and not more than three from students).

 

Community Service Award

 

Description: This award recognizes a faculty member who has provided distinguished service to the non-university community.

 

Eligibility: Full-time, tenure track faculty members at the rank of Assistant Professor or above with three or more years of service at USM are eligible for nomination. Individuals who have received the award twice are ineligible for future consideration.

 

Supporting Documentation: Nominees should submit the following: a vita; one 500 word summary statement of service contributions, and; letters of support (not more than three from faculty members or administrators and not more than three from community members).
