Faculty Role in Budget Decision Making Resolution

Presented May 5, 2000;  Adopted as amended June 16, 2000

The Faculty Senate perceives that faculty have not had adequate advisory and consultative roles in the budget process.  Without faculty input, the elimination of faculty and staff positions is of particular concern. The Senate acknowledges that faculty have had opportunities to be informed of the decisions once they have been made, but is not aware of any role that faculty have been allowed to have in making those decisions.  The Senate believes that it is necessary that faculty have a formal role in budget decision making, as outlined by AAUP Guidelines, especially since such decisions concern faculty welfare, the students we teach, and the environment in which we work.
