Resolution on Parking Regulation Enforcement
Proposed September 15, 2000; Passed October 20, 2000
WHEREAS:
- There is not now and never has been a stipulation in the USM Traffic and
Parking Regulations that students must be accorded a grace period during the
first week of each semester;
- The Senate unanimously approved a resolution last fall requesting that parking
violators be ticketed beginning with the first day of classes;
- The University Transportation Committee unanimously endorsed said resolution;
- Following a protest from the SGA President, the Administration unilaterally
decided to void all tickets issued during the first week of classes this semester;
THEREFORE:
The Senate condemns this blatant disregard for the wishes of the faculty and
reiterates its urgent request that parking regulations be enforced from the
first day of the next and all subsequent semesters.
