In the Office of the First Year Experience we know that your transition to Southern Miss, whether from high school or a community college, can be filled with challenges as you adjust to a new environment. Our office is here to help you navigate your first year as you make Southern Miss your home.

We start by helping you register for classes through Preview, which is our orientation process. After you have made your schedule we are here to assist you as you begin your classes and answer any questions that may arise as you find your place at USM. Southern Style, a unique group of student leaders based out of our office, is also here to help you in this process. It is our goal to make sure you have an amazing first year at Southern Miss and we are anxious to support you in the beginning of your journey as you help take Southern Miss to the top!
