Golden Eagle Welcome Week

GEWW Information for Parents and Students
Golden Eagle Welcome Week (GEWW) is designed specifically for you, our new Golden Eagles. It is a week of meeting new friends, learning important information and enjoying exciting entertainment.
Students are divided into teams and guided throughout the week by student orientation leaders. You'll get all of your questions answered and have a lot of fun in the process. Events range from socials to traditional events such as "Painting the Eagle Walk."
This is how we welcome you to Southern Miss in a big way. These are the days you'll be talking about long after you graduate. We want you to feel at home here and Golden Eagle Welcome Week is a great way to start.

GEWW FAQ
1. What is Gold Eagle Welcome Week?
Golden Eagle Welcome Week is a week of activities planned just for you! You and your classmates will spend a week on campus before the hustle and bustle of class begins. Together you will experience USM traditions first hand and make Southern Miss your home. During the week you will attend your first USM Pep Rally, paint the Eagle Walk, and take part in many other activities. This week is designed to provide great entertainment while connecting you to your University.
2. How do I register for GEWW?
Registration for GEWW is included in your Preview fees. Therefore, once you register for Preview you are also registered for GEWW!
3. When do I sign-in for GEWW?
You will sign in for GEWW on the afternoon of Freshman Move-in Day.
4. Is GEWW only for freshmen?
Transfer students are encouraged to participate in GEWW as well. If you attend the specific events built into the schedule that cater to transfer students you will also receive one credit hour.
5. Do I have to attend every event to get credit to GEWW?
Every event in the GEWW schedule is not mandatory. This means that although we hope you attend every event in the schedule, not all are necessary to receive course credit. You will be able to check with your GEWW Crew leader to find out which events are mandatory.
6. Do transfer students get course credit too?
There are mandatory events in the schedule for transfer students. Students receive credit once they have attended all of the mandatory events designated for them.
7. If I participate in GEWW, will I have time to take care of other campus business before classes start?
There will be time built into the GEWW schedule specifically for your personal errands. So you can take care of business and have a great time without any scheduling conflicts!
