Welcome to Arts and Letters at Southern Miss Gulf Coast

A liberal arts degree provides the tools with which you can continue the process of building a more perfect union and improve society.  There will always be a need for critical thinkers who can effectively communicate their creative solutions to problems.

In a great variety of ways, each discipline in the College produces students who are analytical, creative, and communicative problem solvers.  Our talented faculty will challenge you to THINK about problems, will provide you the skills with which to CREATE innovative solutions to them, and will help you develop and GROW into a productive citizen.  These transferable skills will open up a world of possibilities – from graduate school to the job market, and the relationships you form in the process will last a lifetime.

Each of our programs also provides opportunities to showcase your skills through presentations and projects.  Working closely with faculty members, you’ll have the opportunity to do research, to create film projects, to write and publish original works, and to participate in cultural events.

So, dive right into the possibilities that we have to offer!!!  You will find that the water’s mighty fine!!!
