Requirements for Minor in Religion

A minor in religion requires 18 semester hours, including REL 131(Comparative Religion),
PHI 372 (Philosophy of Religion), 3 semester hours of course work in an Eastern religious tradition, and 3 semester hours of course work in a Western religious tradition.

Dr. Eickelmann teaches religious studies and is responsible for oversight of the minor in religious studies on the coast.  He is also the chair of the Issues and Answers lecture series.  Dr. Eickelmann served as the lead editor of Justice and Violence, published by Ashgate in 2005.  He is also the host of the “As a Matter of Faith” radio program on WUSM FM. Dr. Eickelmann’s main area of study focuses around issues related to the intersection of religion and culture, including the study religiously motivated violence and comparative religious ethics.  He and his wife Margene love cats, jazz and the New Orleans Saints.
