GCRL Alumni Association

Alumni Association of Students and faculty who have attended Gulf Coast Research Laboratory (GCRL)

On October 4, 1997, a meeting was held to establish an Alumni Association of Students and faculty who have attended Gulf Coast Research Laboratory (GCRL) through the years 1947 to the present. Twenty-three persons attended the meeting.

The alumnus who made the longest trip to attend the meeting was Dusty Rodgers ~ 1997 Alumnus from Arkansas. We anticipate that next year at the alumni meeting, we will see people from all across the country. If we are able to contact and inform them early enough, say one year ahead of time, they could plan a vacation and spend some time at GCRL and also see Mississippi.

Suggestions were made to have a Saturday boat trip to the islands and plan lunch, etc. for a day of visiting and getting acquainted. The visitors could stay in the dormitory during their stay.

There was some discussion for a name of the Alumni group. It was decided that for the interim the group would be called "GCRL Alumni Association." When we start locating past alumnus we could possibly initiate a type of "contest" to acquire more suggestions in creating a name and possibly a logo for the Association.
