    CURRENT PROJECTS

    SEAMAP Shark Resource Longline Survey-Project supervisor for the monthly (March to October) longline sampling on the R/V Tom McIlwain around the Mississippi/Alabama barrier islands and in the Chandeleur Sound.

  • Integrated Ecosystem Assessment of the northern Gulf of Mexcio-Work with the Northern Gulf Institute to develop a preliminary IEA for the Mississippi Sound which will be compiled with assessments from LA and AL to develop a larger IEA for the northern Gulf of Mexico as a whole. 

    Sport Fish Shark Resource Survey- Conduct monthly (March to October) handline and gillnet sampling in the Mississippi Sound.

    Whale Shark Project- Monitor whale shark abundance and distribution in the northern Gulf of Mexico by satellite tagging, sightings reports, encounters, and spotter flights.

    Spotted Seatrout Spawning Habitat -Review passive acoustic underwater recordings and identify spawning male courtship sounds to characterize spawning habitat.
