SEAMAP - SouthEast Monitoring and Assessment Program

  • Cooperative effort between National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) and the five Gulf states since 1981; coordinated by the Gulf States Marine Fisheries Commission (GSMFC)
  • GOAL: to collect long-term, standardized, fishery-independent data on the condition of regional living marine resources and their environment
  • Utilize trawls, plankton nets, fish traps and video to assess organisms at established stations throughout the Gulf of Mexico each year
  • Evaluate water quality
