March 19, 2013 - The University of Southern Mississippi’s Gulf Coast Research Laboratory has received funding from the National Science Foundation for the new Science Center for Marine Fisheries. The center will provide an academic resource for the fishing industry throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Gulf coast region.
Before they pulled on their gloves on and hefted their garbage bags, this small group learned how to read a map and perform water quality tests. What they lacked in numbers was more compensated for by hard work and enthusiasm. Teacher Jill Drum and her students collected a total of 150 pounds of debris.
