Interlibrary Loan and Photocopy Service

Purpose:
To provide faculty, staff, and resident graduate students with materials not available from the Gunter Library.

Available To:
Scientific staff, research associates, and other employees with a current I.D. card.

To Request a Loan:

  1. Check the holdings of the Gunter Library (card catalogue, reprint and journal collections) to make certain the material is not available here. If you need assistance, please ask any library staff member. 
  2. Provide as complete a bibliographic citation as possible. If you must hand write the citation, please print the information clearly and legibly. Do not abbreviate periodical titles.  Incomplete requests cause delays and may be returned for further details.
  3. Whenever possible, please list the source in which you found the citation. The forms we use require this type of verification.
  4. You may submit your request via e-mail:

Turn-around Time:
Loans and photocopies can take as short as a week and as long as 6 weeks depending on the lending library. Please note on your request the latest date on which you will accept materials.

Charges:
Charges for photocopies and loans are set by the lending institution. Prices generally range from $2 to $30. Please be sure to provide an account number for billing. If you have a price limit, please indicate that on your request. If you do not provide an account number, your request will be returned to you for one.

Conditions of Borrowing:
Loan periods and other conditions are set by the lending library typical loan periods are 2-4 weeks. A borrower may request a renewal by submitting your request at least 5 days before the due date. Please observe the due date-other libraries may not lend us materials, if we cannot return them on time.

Please note that we must abide by the restrictions set by the lending library.

Format:
Please note on your request if a microform (film or fiche) format is acceptable. Gunter Library has both a microfilm reader and a microfiche reader, but neither print. Printers are available at local public libraries and at USM-Gulf Park (for a fee).
