Summer Camps at the Gulf Coast Research Laboratory
Are You a Future Marine Biologist?
Get a jump start at the Marine Education Center's new After School Marine Biologist program. Spend one afternoon a week immersed in a learning environment with the scientists, researchers,
and educators of GCRL's Marine Education
Center. The first session begins on Monday, September 8, 2014. It's serious science, and there's no homework!
2014 Summer Camps
The 2014 sessions of the three primary summer camps are over for 2014. But, all three camps, and more, will return in the summer of 2015. Meanwhile, watch for additional programs for young students throughout the remainder of 2014, such as the After School Marine Biologist program described above.
For 25 years, Sea Camp has been the Coast's most popular marine science day camp for ages 6-13. Learn about Sea Camp 2014 here.
Visit the top shark fishing hotspots around the Barrier Islands aboard a research vessel. Catch and tag sharks to contribute to ongoing scientific research. Read more and sign on board for Shark Fest.
This new program for the summer of 2014 will introduce young people from the ages 10 to 18 to fishing the diverse waters of coastal Mississippi. The five-day camp will include sessions on the water, in the lab, and in the kitchen as students learn everything from tying a hook on a line to finding and catching fish to cleaning and cooking their catch. Read more about Angler Camp and sign up for the fun.
