Sea Camp 2009

Now in it’s 22nd consecutive year, Sea Camp, the popular marine science day camp for ages 6-13 will be held at the J.L. Scott Marine Education Center, located at The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Research Laboratory (GCRL) in Ocean Springs.
Campers experience discovery through hands-on activities and live animal encounters in both the classroom and field. All students have the opportunity to crab, fish, seine and sieve. Field trips also take participants into beach and saltmarsh habitats.
Children of all ages visit Deer Island aboard the R/V Sea Explorer. Additionally, campers ages 8-13 get to spend a day at Ship Island.
Students aged 12-13 will have an added adventure, kayaking through the maritime forests of Bayou Heron and exploring Indian middens and salt pannes of near-shore islands at Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Moss Point.
Sea Camp registration requires a $25.00 non-refundable deposit with the balance due no later than May 15, 2009.
