What does MEGSA do?

Since its creation in 1997, MEGSA has provided an organizational, professional and social forum for graduate students residing at the Gulf Coast Research Laboratory. MEGSA organizes three annual events: a scientific graduate student meeting co-sponsored by graduate students of Dauphin Island Sea Lab and LSU, and two fund-raisers, the 5-K Fun Run which partially funds projects carried out by Gulf Islands National Seashore and sponsors children attending summer camp at the J.L. Scott Marine Education Center & Aquarium, and Bowling for Books which supports GCRL's Gunter Library. MEGSA also participates in community activities organized by institutions such as Gulf Islands National Seashore and the local YMCA. In addition, MEGSA has participated in the creation and maintenance of a graduate student computer lab, and participated in the acquisition of a Polaroid ProPalette 7000 Slide Maker for GCRL.
