RESEARCH INTERESTS

Mineralogy, Volcanology, and Geological Education

I teach several courses within the Geology core including many courses that have lab and field components.  Each year my students and I conduct field studies in states extending from New Mexico to North Carolina.  I work closely and individually with student advising and mentorship; with the goal of helping every major find either employment or continue on to graduate studies.  I also have collaborated with other science educators at Southern Miss to bring Geology to our USM curriculum in science education for in-service teachers.  I am the faculty advisor for our student Southern Geological Society.
