EcoEagle is the programming and educational portion of the Office of Sustainability. Its purpose is outreach to the campus community and surrounding communities to effect impacting change and involvement for the future. EcoEagle strives to create this change through the following three programming areas:
Curriculum Development
The goal of the Office of Sustainability is to work with different factions of the University to implement educational experiences on sustainability within the curriculum at Southern Miss. The Sustainability staff work closely with academic affairs to accomplish this outstanding goal.
Film and Lecture Series
Under this portion of programming the Office of Sustainability will bring to campus different guest speakers working with and around specific sustainability topics as well as showing different films focused on sustainability.
Representatives
This group is an informal, peer-to-peer knowledge community who are charged with the task to educate, motivate, and inspire those who they come in contact with in and around the campus community.
Projects
Each semester there will be a number of service events that will take place in which individuals can sign up to help create a better community. Through tasks such as revitalizing small bodies of water, rebuilding homes to be more sustainable, or simple clean up of parts of campus a huge difference can be made.
