
Returning to Katrina: Bringing Hurricane Katrina Research Back to the Community |
Approaching the five-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, this research summit aims to return scholars who conducted post-Katrina research back to the Gulf Coast region to share their findings with the communities they once studied. This interdisciplinary conference seeks paper proposals from those who received grants to study the natural, social, political, and economic effects of Hurricane Katrina in its devastating wake to present their research to help communities threatened by natural disasters and chaotic disruptions to become more resilient in the future.
Conference Dates: June 4-5, 2010 Keynote speakers will include Stephen E. Flynn, President of the Center for National Policy and author of The Edge of Disaster: Rebuilding a Resilient Nation and Gerald Blessey, Mississippi Coast Housing Director and former mayor of Biloxi, Mississippi.
