Teacher Assistant Program (TAP)
The University of Southern Mississippi is now offering an elementary teacher education program to those who are employed as Teacher's Assistants in public schools in Mississippi. All K-6 professional education courses may be taken in an online format. Contact us today to find out if TAP is the right program for you.
TAP student qualifications:
1. All TAP students must currently be employed as a teacher's assistant in a Mississippi public school, and submit proof of such employment in the form of a letter from their Principal.
2. All TAP students must obtain a passing score on each of the five modules of the Basic Technology Literacy Exam (BTLE). Visit the BTLE test site for full information on the BTLE, including class schedules, FAQs, and exam times.

4. All TAP students are required to subscribe to the TK 20 Assessment System. TK 20 is an electronic portfolio and storage system for teacher candidates. It tracks, stores, retrieves, and analyzes data to maintain program excellence for accreditation. The TK 20 subscription remains active for seven (7) years from the date of purchase.
