What are two of your favorite quotes and from whom did you take them?
"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." - Dr. Seuss
"The Constitution only gives people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself." - Ben Franklin
Why did you choose the profession you are in now?
My desire to become an administrator (or as some of my colleagues have called it, a member of the so-called “Dark Side”!!!) stems from a wish to assist faculty in bringing to the classroom many diverse opportunities for our students and to participate in the professional development of young faculty.
What sparked your interest to teach?
I am inspired to teach every time one of my students takes what they have learned in my classes and applies it in their lives to make themselves better. In a way, a little piece of each of us teachers lives on in our students as they go about the process of thinking, creating, and growing and moving our society toward that more perfect union to which the framers aspired.
What is your favorite time period in history and why?
The antebellum South – only the positive parts, of course: it was a time when honor, chivalry, and a people’s word mattered and defined them as individuals. We have lost touch with that somewhat in the 21st Century.
What are some of your hobbies?
Following the political world; being a loyal LSU football fan; Phillies fan
What do you think students would like to know about you?
I once ran for public office and – by a strange twist of fate – against a student in one of my classes at the time!!! |
