About Us

The School of Social Work at the University of Southern Mississippi has provided quality graduate social work education for nearly 40 years.  The MSW Program within the School of Social Work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, and has been continuously accredited since 1976.  Social Workers are professionals who graduate from a CSWE accredited institution and have passed licensure. 

Professional social workers use a wide variety of empirically-based methods to help individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities to solve a broad range of problems.  Social Work students, graduates and licensed professionals strive to enhance the quality of life for all people.  We empower the voiceless, we promote the values of:  social justice, economic justice, physical and mental well being.  Professional social workers are employed in many settings, including:
