Dear Prospective Student, To apply to the Masters of Political Science Emphasis Program you must have an undergraduate degree in a social science field though other undergraduate degrees will be considered.
Our program is fully online which means that students are not required to come to campus but all students are welcome on campus anytime and are encouraged to attend graduation.
Classes are online, usually after 5pm CST, for two hours per class. Each class meets at a different time and different day of the week so there is not any overlap. These class meetings will be fixed so that you will know in advance when the class will meet, long before you sign up for a class.
The program is 36 semester hours, Master of Science non thesis, with 6 hours of core classes, 12 hours of general knowledge classes, 9 hours of an area study and 9 hours of electives. Each course is 3 hours each. Most students take on average 2 classes per semester. After completion of the classes, students will sit for take-home comprehensive exams in the general field, area and international development. The program is very doable for a working professional and most of our students meet that description. The university residency requirement can be met by taking two classes (6 hours) for 4 consecutive semesters including summer.
