Application Process

Students take notes during class lecture

The International Development Doctoral (Ph.D.) Program accepts applications for both fall and spring admission. The deadline for the fall semester is May 15 of that year and the deadline for the spring semester is October 15 of the previous year.  Applications will not be reviewed until after the application deadline, at which point the faculty will meet to discuss all applications.  Following IDV faculty decisions, all applications go through a series of review by various University channels.  Once a final decision has been made by the Graduate School, applicants will be notified of their acceptance or non-acceptance.  The entire decision process can last between four to eight weeks.

Please note that the IDV program will be notified by the Graduate School of all final decisions after the applicants themselves have been informed.

Note that the University's Graduate Bulletin requires candidates for admission into doctoral programs to present a graduate-level grade point average of not less than 3.25 on a 4.00 scale. We cannot admit students whose GPA falls below this requirement.

Admissions are competitive.
