Meet our Staff
Charlie Carlee, Political Science, M.A.
Charlie Carlee is a Graduate student within the Political Science Department and the current Graduate Assistant in the Learning Commons. He received his Bachelor's degree in 2014, majoring in History and minoring in Political Science. His specialties inside the Learning Commons include: Turabian, Writing, Research Methods, Oral Presentations, Speaking, and Basic Statistics. He is also a member of Student Government, Student Veterans, and History Honors Society
Carol Strohmetz, History, M.A.
Carol Strohmetz is a graduate student with a major in History and a minor in Women and Gender studies. Upon graduating, Carol intends on applying to the PhD program. Her long term goal is to teach Women in American History at a local college or university.
Emily Haig, Biology, B.S.
Emily Haig is an undergraduate student majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry. She is the secretary of the Student Government Association, the historian of Beta Iota Omicron, and a member of Sigma Mu. After graduation, Emily plans to teach at a local secondary school.
Leah Barnes, English, B.A. (English Licensure)
Leah Barnes is a Junior English Education major and she is a Speaking and Writing tutor in the Learning Commons. After graduation she plans to work as a secondary English teacher before pursuing a graduate degree in either Education or Composition and Rhetoric. In addition to working in the Learning Commons, Leah is also the College of Arts and Letters representative for SGA. While her free time is extremely limited, when she can she enjoys watching a lot of sub par television, cooking, and reading anything that isn't listed as "required for this course". She looks forward to working with the Learning Commons this year and with the student body of USM Gulf Coast.
Aaron Pack, Nursing, B.S.N.
Aaron Pack is a Nursing student here on the Gulf Coast campus who has other academic interests in psychology, philosophy, math, and research. He is also a member of the Pearson Student Advisory Board, Student Nurses Association, and the American Assembly for Men in Nursing. At the Learning Commons, Aaron assists students with speaking, writing, and basic statistics.
Alejandra Gregory, Psychology, B.A.
I am Alejandra Gregory, I am a Spanish tutor in the Learning Commons. I am a junior majoring in psychology, hoping to eventually get my Ph.D. in school psychology. I am also currently the secretary of Psi Chi.
Alexandra Utley, Psychology, B.A.
My name is Alexandra Utley, and I am a junior at USM Gulf Park. I'm a psychology major, as well as the treasurer for the psychology honor society, Psi Chi. I am also the undergraduate Psychology Ambassador. My specialties within the Learning Commons include Statistics and speaking/writing, particularly in APA format. After I graduate, I plan to go directly to graduate school to earn a Ph.D. Ultimately, I aspire to be a practicing child psychologist.
Crystal Stinson, English, B.A.
My name is Crystal Stinson and I am an English major. I have been a student of USM since fall 2013, and a Speaking and Writing tutor in the Learning Commons since Spring 2014. I am also a member of Sigma Tau Delta, and Vice president of SGA. I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to get on a personal level with my fellow classmates, but it also gives me a sense of accomplishment when I am able to really help someone with their writing issues. If you need any help, please do not hesitate to make an appointment with me.
Cody Slater, Geography, B.S.
Cody is a Geography major with an emphasis in Sustainable Development. He is a Senior at USM and is the president of Gamma Theta Upsilon, a Geography honor society. His central belief is that everyone is an acceptable writer and all it takes to become a great writer is self-confidence.
Claire Yount, English, B.A.
My name is Claire Yount. My classification is a Junior, working as an English major (hoping to be an editor).My specialties are MLA formatting, spelling/grammar/punctuation, and overall clarity and organization of papers and speeches. I'm also a part of Alliance for Equality.
Scott Geyer, Mathematics (Mathematics Licensure), B.S.
Scott is a Mathematics Major at USM. He has served in the Air Force as an imagery analyst. He is the treasurer for Student Government, the vice president of Sigma Mu Math and Sciences Club and Sgt at Arms of the Student Veterans organization on the Gulf Coast campus. His specialties include applications (word problems), algebra, and linear algebra, discrete math, and differential equations. He also has some experience in physics I and II, html, C++ (CSC 101), Sage, Python, accounting I, microeconomics, business math, and marketing. In physics he prefers electronics, optics, and motion. He plans to teach at a high school level.
Abhijith Reddy, Computer Science, M.S.
I am Abhijith Reddy, but everyone calls me Abhi. I finished my Bachelors of Engineering in India and I'm here at USM to pursue my Masters in computers science. It’s pretty much an excitement to start my career as a tutor for Math and Computer Science with the Learning Commons. I wish my service to the department will enhance and encourage more students to use the Learning Commons to better their future.
Anirudh Reddy, Computer Science, M.S.
My name is Anirudh Reddy, but everyone calls me Ani. I’m here at USM pursuing a Masters in Computer Science and look forward to serving the Learning Commons as a Computer Science and Math tutor.
Bill Lince, Biology (Biological Science Licensure), B.S.
I am Bill Lince. I am a non-traditional student as a retiree from Active Duty AF. I am currently a Junior in Biology Science, after a Major transfer from Political Science. I will be tutoring Bio I and II, Botany and General Chemistry in the Learning Commons. I am a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. I am the current Secretary for the BIO Club. I would like to be involved in field research and then take that experience into the classroom to teach high school Biology.
Tevin White, Child Development, B.A. / Elementary Education, B.A.
Hi my name is Tevin White. I am the front desk attendant here in the Learning Commons. I am a senior child development and elementary education dual major here at USM. Once I complete my degree, I plan to teach in a Pre-K up to 3rd grade setting. I also would like to continue my education by receiving my Masters degree in speech and language science to become a speech and language pathologist. I will be happy to assist anyone that may need help with finding a tutor for any subject that they may need.
Sam McElveen, Biology, B.S.
My name is Sam McElveen. I am a Senior at USM. My degree is in Enviromental Biology, with a Spanish minor and a GIT Certification. I specialize in Spanish tutoring, and I enjoy conversing in Spanish with other students.
