Dr. Aubrey K. Lucas
University of Southern Mississippi, Interim President
Returning to familiar territory, Dr. Aubrey K. Lucas has been selected
to serve as the interim president for the University of Southern
Mississippi.
Dr. Lucas is President Emeritus and Professor of Higher Education at
Southern Miss, where he served for 22 years as President. He had
previously served as President of Delta State University for four years.
He also served as Interim Commissioner of Higher Education from
October 2008 until July 2009.
Dr. Lucas earned his B.S. and M.A. degrees from Southern Miss and
received his Ph.D. degree from Florida State University.
Dr. Frances Lucas,
University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast,
Vice President and Campus Executive Officer
Dr. Frances Lucas is the vice president and campus executive
officer for The University of Southern Mississippi’s Gulf Coast
operations. In this position, Lucas is responsible for the Gulf Park
campus in Long Beach and the five teaching and research sites
across the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
