Gabrielle Darville
My name is Gabrielle C. Darville and I am an international student from Nassau, Bahamas. I am currently enrolled as a graduate student pursuing a Masters of Public Health with a dual emphasis in Health Education & Health Policy/Administration. Currently I work as a Graduate Assistant with the Department of Residence Life at The University as a Graduate Hall Director.
Career wise I have multiple goals, which include my education from both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. I got my BS from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in Health and Human Performance and I hope one day to either work as a Health Educator on campus initially and then transition into the Non Profit Sector. Because as of lately I have realized the cultural competency, literacy and generational barriers to health campaigns, I am interested about how policy and health marketing/communications can be merged with Health Promotion efforts within the community at large to promote behavior change and influence changes within the health care system as a whole. Because of this, I am also interested in pursuing a Graduate Certificate from Western Virginia University in Integrated Marketing Communication. After working in the Non Profit Sector for a few years I also hope to branch off as an entrepreneur to eventually own and operate a Physical Therapy/ Sports Medicine Rehabilitation and Wellness Center.
Some activities that I am involved in outside of COH Student Ambassadors also include Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity, Inc., Health Administration Student Association (HASA), My Mother’s Heart Non Profit Foundation, Mississippi Partnership for Comprehensive Control (MP3C) Coalition, and West Point Baptist Church: Toddler & Preschool Ministry.
Hobbies that I enjoy participating in include traveling, writing poetry, painting, and reading. I also enjoy learning about different people and cultures and how I can grow as an individual in my personal and professional career to be an asset to help others.
