Emily Buras
Hello all! My name is Emily Buras, a senior from New Orleans, Louisiana. I am a Human Performance and Recreation major with an emphasis in Exercise Science. I am also working on biology minor. Being an exercise science major and College of Health Ambassador, I feel it is my duty to promote healthy lifestyle choices, especially physical activity and exercise, among the USM community and the community at large. I plan to continue promoting healthy lifestyles by pursuing a career in physical therapy.
After graduation, I hope to continue on the path of earning a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. Eventually, I would like to specialize in spinal cord injury rehabilitation. Spinal cord injuries are something I find very interesting and these injuries require a lot of support in their recovery. I am excited to be an integral part of that recovery process.
Currently, I fill my free time with other school activities and volunteering at a local hospital. My school activities include: being a supplemental instructor for exercise physiology, leading the Exercise Physiology Club as a co-president, and a member of the Honors College. Outside of school, I enjoy group exercise classes at the gym, working out with friends, and biking.
