What is AlcoholEdu?

AlcoholEdu is a mandatory online alcohol education course for incoming freshmen. The course is a confidentia,l personalized experience that includes:

5 modules of alcohol information
A quiz to test your knowledge
Surveys to assess your attitudes and behaviors concerning alcohol
Personalized feedback
Interactive exercises
Access to a student social network
Information on local resources and Southern Miss policies

 

Login Instructions

NOTE:  Southern Miss First Year Students Only

New User:

To begin AlcoholEdu for College, you will log in by doing the following:
Step 1. You will need your SOAR userid and password. 
Step 2. Login to SOAR at soar.usm.edu
Step 3. Click on the <AlcoholEdu> link which is at the bottom of the Student Center page. The first time you enter the AlcoholEdu site you will need to complete the registration form in order to create an account.
NOTE:  You may log in and out of the course at the end of each section. Section ends are marked with a “Next” button. DO NOT log out until you click the “Next” button or you will have to repeat the section you have just gone through.

Returning User:

Step 1.  To log back into your account, always access AlcoholEdu through the link at in the Student Center within SOAR.

For problems logging in using your SOAR userid and password, contact the Southern Miss Help Desk at 601-266-4357.

For all other AlcoholEdu technical issues click on the “Technical Help” button located in the upper right-hand corner of every AlcoholEdu for College screen (available 24/7).

 

 

Dates and Deadlines

July 22, 2008 Access to Alcohol Edu opens. You may begin taking the course
August 12, 2008 Deadline for completion of part one.
Be on the lookout 45 days after you complete part 1 you may begin taking part two. A reminder email will be sent to you at this time. You will then have 2-3 weeks to complete part two.
October 15, 2008 Deadline for completion of part two.
