Graduate Certificate in Adult Education
The graduate program in Adult Education offers a 15-our Adult Education certificate. The certificate is designed to provide basic adult education expertise to practitioners, specifically for the following three groups:
- professionals and other individuals with a baccalaureate degree who are in professional positions in which knowledge of adult education would be beneficial, including but not limited to training personnel in a variety of settings as well as literacy, ESL and GED instructors
- currently enrolled graduate students pursuing degrees in other professional fields in which adult education is a suitable, professionally related area
- professionals in the field who already have a graduate degree but who find that their responsibilities might be enhanced with knowledge of adult education
Curriculum
The curriculum for the certificate in Adult Education provides students with a breadth of choice among elective courses to reflect the diversity of professional endeavors for which supplemental training in adult education would be appropriate. The certificate provides a 5-course, 15-hour introductory level of knowledge to the field. A 3.0 GPA is required for satisfactory completion of the certificate.
