Graduate Certificate in Community College Education
This certificate is designed for those students who wish to gain knowledge of community college leadership. Coursework in the certificate program will help students become familiar with the literature of higher education administration, understand key leadership qualifications, and knowledge of the problems confronting community college leaders.
Admission: All certificate applicants must provide proof of baccalaureate or graduate degree. Students not currently admitted in another degree program are admitted to the Community College Leadership certificate program as a non-degree-seeking student. Students who already have a master’s degree and who decide to pursue a specialist or doctoral degree must proceed through the normal admission process for the selected degree before the completion of the first term of coursework in order for those courses to be applied toward a specialist or doctoral degree.
Curriculum: The curriculum for the certificate in Community College Leadership provides students with a foundation in community college leadership, practical experience, and a choice of a higher education elective course. The certificate provides a five course (15 hour) introductory level of knowledge to the field. A 3.0 GPA is required for satisfactory completion of the certificate.
