Call for Papers
The Center for the Study of the Gulf South at The University of Southern Mississippi and The Department of History at The University of South Alabama announce a conference on emerging trends in the historiography of slavery in the Americas and Caribbean. We invite proposals (300-500 words) for individual papers and panels that evaluate the existing literature and explore subjects that previous scholars have neglected. Suggested topics include, but are not limited to, the following: internal and international slave trades; comparative or transnational approaches to slavery; the influence of gender on slavery; emancipation and manumission; and industrial or urban slavery.
