Office of Scholarships

Robyn Curtis is the National Scholarship Officer. She assists students in applying for nationally competitive scholarships. Though housed in the Honors College, the scholarship officer will assist any Southern Miss student interested in making application for national scholarships. (This office does not handle USM's scholarships. The Admissions Office is the department best able to answer questions regarding scholarships for incoming freshmen and transfer students.)

Senior Scholarship Information Session for Rising Seniors

April 19th @4:30pm in Union Room B

This session is for rising seniors (current juniors who will graduate next year) who are interested in applying for scholarships and fellowships that will fund graduate study. We will cover a number of awards including the Fulbright, Rhodes, Marshall, and the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. It is important for students to know which awards they wish to compete for in time to thoughtfully prepare competitive applications and those deadlines can really sneak up on you at the beginning of senior year. This workshop is the first step in identifying programs you may be eligible for and making sure you don’t miss any opportunities. These awards are very competitive and in most cases will require a 3.5 or higher GPA as well as significant campus or community involvement and/or significant academic achievement. That said the GPA is a general guideline as some programs take a more holistic approach to evaluating applicants. Pizza and beverages will be served.  Please RSVP by Tuesday April 17th so that we can have an approximate head count for food.
