| Graduate Assistantships
Opportunities
Teaching opportunities exist with the Physical Activity Program, Exercise Science and Athletic Training laboratories, and lower level undergraduate courses in a variety of major content areas.
Research opportunities exist in the Exercise Science, Physical Education, Sport Management, and Sport and High Performane Materials programs. Assistance may be given to students who wish to pursue other GA opportunities in Intercollegiate Athletics, Campus Recreation, and outreach programs in Exercise Science, Physical Education, and Athletic Training.
Adjunct/Graduate Assistant Teaching Instructional & Experience Survey Financial Assistance
A minimum stipend of $5500.00 for fall and spring semesters, plus paid tuition (in-state as well as out-of -state), for fall, spring, and summer semesters. Students paid through faculty, university, or external grants may receive much higher stipends depending on the funding source.
Regular Admission
Master's Graduate Assistantships: Completion of a bachelor's degree from an accrediated institution, application, and minimum GPA (2.75 on 4.0 scale) computed on the last 60 hrs. of undergraduate study, accepted GRE scores (varies per program), submission of resume, and three letters of recommendation (at least two letters from teachers attesting to your ability to successfully perform graduate work), and official transcripts. The Sport Management program will also accept the GMAT exam. The Dual MBA/Sport Management program requires the GMAT.
Doctoral Graduate Assistantships: Completion of undergraduate and master's degrees from accrediated institutions, application, minimum GPA (3.5 on 4.0 scale) from master's program, acceptable GRE scores (varies per program), submission of resume and letter of career and research interest, and three letters of recommendation (at least two letters attesting to your ability to successfully perform graduate work) and official transcripts. An interview with faculty in the area of interest is required for completion of the admission process. NOTE: "Condition" admission is available in some programs.
Appointments
Nine month appointments begin the week before school starts in August. Assistantships are renewable for additional years based upon evidence of academic performance and quality execution of assigned duties.
