Admission Requirements You must first make application for admission to Graduate Studies and be accepted by the Review Committee of the program and by Graduate Studies before enrolling for any courses in these programs.

Basic admission requirements include:

  • Hold a baccalaureate degree from an institution approved by a recognized accrediting agency.
  • Must be eligible to re-enter in good standing the last college or university attended
  • Must present evidence, by official transcript, of a grade point average equivalent to at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale for the last two years of graduate study, and a grade point average of at least 3.0 in the field of proposed graduate study.
  • Must have at least three letters of recommendation sent to the department/school from persons qualified to assess the graduate's readiness for graduate study.
  • Must have standardized GRE scores sent to Graduate Admissions
  • Must submit TOEFL scores if an international student.
  • Must satisfy the appropriate department chair and college dean that the applicant shows promise of satisfying Master's degree requirements.

Entering graduate students will be required to take examinations covering undergraduate organic and physical chemistry and calculus.

Degree Requirements

  • Core Course Hours = 27 hrs.
  • Master Thesis Hours = 6 hrs.
  • Total Minimum Hours = 33 hrs.

HPR 701: Advanced Exercise Physiology I (3 hrs.)
Prerequisite HPR 601 or equivalent course. Concurrent enrollment in HPR 701L required. The study of the circulatory, respiratory, nervous, and muscular systems during and after physical activity.

HPR 701L: Advanced Exercise Physiology I Laboratory (2 hrs.)
Corerquisite HPR 701. Use and care of exercise physiology laboratory equipment.

HPR 704: Tests and Measurements in Human Performance (3 hrs.)
Tests of fitness, skills, and abilities. Administration and interpretation of tests and measurements.

HPR 734: Advanced Biomechanics (3 hrs)
The study of mechanical foundations and advanced analytical techniques of human motion.

HPR 734L: Advanced Biomechanics Lab (2)

PSC 701: Organic Polymer Chemistry I (3 hrs.)

Reaction mechanisms, polymer concepts, step-growth poklymerization, and polymer reactivity

PSC 702: Organic Polymer Chemistry II (3 hrs.)
Kinetics, free radical reaction mechanisms, homogeneous chain growth polymerization of vinyl compounds, copolymerization, and degradation of polymers.

PSC 710: Polymer Physical Chemistry I: Solution Properties (3 hrs.)
A study of polymer chain conformation, solution thermodynamics, phase equilibria, and transport phenomena.

PSC 712: Polymer Physical Chemistry III (3 hrs.)
Morphology, crystallization, entropyelasticity, viscoelasticity, glass transition, interfaces of polymers.

**PSC 820: Advanced Composite Materials (3 hrs.)
Study of advanced composite materials and processes.

**PSC 820L: Advanced Composite Materials Laboratory (2 hrs.)
A laboratory designed to accompany PSC 820.
