B.S. in Sport Management
Overview
Today’s sport industry needs highly-trained professionals to meet the ever-changing economic and lifestyle growth patterns in tomorrow’s marketplace. With the proliferation of both recreational and spectator sport, sport management is becoming increasingly complex. As a result, successful organizations in the sport industry are continually searching for tomorrow’s leaders with specialized training.
The Bachelor of Science in sport management, is accredited by the Commission of Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA), and combines traditional classroom instruction with hands-on practicum and internship experience. This comprehensive curriculum prepares students to successfully enter a career in sport management and administration.
Career Opportunities
Southern Miss Sport Management (SM)2 provides professional training in preparation for management and leadership positions with professional sport teams, intercollegiate and intramural athletics, recreation programs at colleges and universities, and amateur athletic organizations. The program will also prepare students for graduate study.

- Minor Requirements
Students who wish to earn a minor in sport management must complete HPR 203, 405, 466 and nine hours of sport management (adviser approved) electives.
