Driver Education Certification Program

Overview
Driver Education Certification is an "add-on" certification for education majors, coaches and teachers.
The series of courses offered will allow an educator with a valid Mississippi teaching license to add the Driver Education endorsement to his or her license. Students who intend to teach in other states are responsible for meeting the other states' requirements.
Course Descriptions
The Driver Education courses, HPR 480-484, may be taken simultaneously and can be completed in three weeks.
HPR 480 Introduction to Driver Education
HPR 483 Methods of Driver and Traffic Safety Education, concurrent enrollment in HPR 483L required
HPR 483L Driver Education Laboratory
HPR 484 Simulation in Driver Education
Admission and Registration
Students who wish to enroll in these courses for academic credit must meet Southern Miss admission requirements.
Students are required to apply with USM's Admissions Office. Online admission applications are available at www.admissions.usm.edu/ugapp or copies can be obtained at the Admissions Office. Once accepted, the student will be able to register for these courses.
Current Southern Miss students are encouraged to register through SOAR. The registration deadline for academic credit is June 3, 2013. For your convenience, please make every effort to complete your admission or readmission registration process prior to that date.
