Early Connections Webcam Setup Instructions

Setup instructions for:

 


7-camera system in Early Connections (older kids)

For Windows XP users:

  1. Click on the [Early Connections Webcam] link.
  2. Make sure the “Mpeg4 Encoder Viewer” radio button is selected and Click on [Submit].
  3. On the first attempt, a message may appear at the top of the window about installing “ActiveX control” and to “Click here for options…”  Click on the message then click on the [Install ActiveX Control] option from the dropdown menu.
  4. Another window will most likely appear stating “Windows has blocked this software because it can’t verify the publisher.  Click on [OK].
  5. This message indicates the security settings in your browser need to be relaxed while you install the needed software to view the webcams.  To resolve this problem:
  6. In the browser, click on the menu items [Tools, Internet Options] then select the [Security] tab.
  7. Click on [Custom level…]  You will see a long list of security options with a scroll bar on the right.  Most all the option have Disable, Enable, and Prompt radio buttons.  Scroll down through the list until you see “Download unsigned ActiveX controls” and select the (Prompt) radio button, then select the (Prompt) radio button of the item just below it called “Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked…”  Then click on [OK],  [Yes], [Apply], [OK].
  8. Close your browser and start it again.
  9. From the original link try to access the [Early Connections Webcam] again.  Make sure the “Mpeg4 Encoder Viewer” radio button is selected and Click on [Submit].  The message to “Click here for more options…” will appear.  Click on the message then click on the [Install ActiveX Control] option from the dropdown menu.
  10. If you receive the block message as in step 4, you’ll need to temporarily relax your security settings even further. 
  11. In the browser, click on the menu items [Tools, Internet Options] then select the [Security] tab.
  12. Click on [Custom level…]  You will see a long list of security options with a scroll bar on the right.  Most all the option have Disable, Enable, and Prompt radio buttons.  Scroll down through the list and select (Enable) or (Prompt) for every item in the list.  Then click on [OK],  [Yes], [Apply], [OK].
  13. A message that “The publisher could not be verified” will pop up.  Click on [Install].  A download window will appear showing progress.
  14. Once the program is installed, you need to go back and tighten up your security levels in your browser.
  15. In the browser, click on the menu items [Tools, Internet Options] then select the [Security] tab.
  16. Click on [Custom level…], Select “Medium-high” in the drop down box then click on [Reset] [Yes].  Then click on [OK], [Apply], [OK].
  17. Now restart your browser and click on the [Early Connections Webcam] link.
  18. Make sure the “Mpeg4 Encoder Viewer” radio button is selected and Click on [Submit].
  19. Select the (MODEM) radio button the click on [Submit].  A window with multiple controls will appear.
  20. Click on the [Play] button.  It looks like a play button on a VCR.
  21. Enter your assigned user name and password.  The server should let you in.
  22. To change cameras, click on the lower left icon that looks like a camera with two arrows above it.

For Windows 7 users:

  1. Download the DDMultiView program and install it.
  2. [Edit] the IP to be 66.208.252.145
  3. Enter your username and password
  4. [OK]

Still Having Problems?

If you're having trouble with Internet Explorer not allowing something to do with "OCXchecker", download GeoFix.zip to your hard drive.

  1. Unzip Geofix.zip into its own directory
  2. Run Geofix.exe by double-clicking on it
  3. Click on the [Fix Version] button then the [Fix Codec] button.

  4. Restart Internet Explorer and try access the camera again.
  5. It will warn you (again) about downloaded unsigned software. Agree to it and press on.
  6. Select (Mpeg4) [Submit]
  7. Select (Dialup) [Submit]
  8. Press the [Play] button
  9. Enter your username and password [OK] and you're in!

 

 

Instructions to Access the Toddler and After School Cameras
(As of May 10, 2012)

  1. You must have permission from Dr. Siders, Alicia Sanders, or Margie Pittman to obtain a password for this camera system. One of them will forward the request on to our technical support who will then email you the username and password.
  2. Download the Multi-Client Viewer, unzip it, and install it on your computer.
  3. Click [Finished]
  4. Double-click on the new Multi-Client icon on your desktop. Multi-client icon
  5. It will start and take up the entire screen.

  1. Click on SETUP from the bottom menu.

  2. Click the [Device Setup] tab on the top.

  3. Click on [Add Group].

  4. Type in “Early Connections” and click [OK].

  5. Click [ADD].

  6. Enter the following data:
  • Name: (EC1 for Early Connections after school) OR (EC2 for Early Connections Infant and Toddler building)
  • Addr: 66.208.252.146
  • Port: 9001 (for EC1) or 9000 (for EC2)
  • User: Enter the username provided in your email.  If you have not received an email have Ms. Margie or Ms. Alicia email Rich with your name and email address.
  • Password: as provided in the email from Rich.
  • Channel (top right of the window): 6

  1. Drag the device icon into block 1. The cameras should connect in a few moments. If not, right-click inside the block and select [Open All].

  2. By selecting the ( VIEW ) button from the lower right, you can select the number of blocks to appear on the screen. We suggest 6 or less.
  3. Be sure to ( EXIT ) when you are not actively watching. Our bandwidth is limited.
