Providing Educational Opportunities for Students with Intellectual Disabilities
The Institute for Disability Studies has received an implementation mini-grant award through Think College at the Institute for Community Inclusion (ICI) at the University of Massachusetts Boston, with funding from the Administration on Developmental Disabilities. This implementation mini-grant compliments the work of the previous planning mini-grant and the Higher EDucation 4 All Planning Council. The Think College Planning Mini-Grant provided the Institute the opportunity to bring together higher education and relevant state leaders and youth to address the lack of higher education opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities in Mississippi.
The Higher EDucation 4 All Planning Council is now the Higher EDucation 4 All Implementation Council. This Council focuses on promoting and initiating postsecondary education opportunities for students with intellectual disabilities in Mississippi and is composed of individuals with intellectual disabilities, family members, professionals and advocates.
