HOYO Delta Initiative (DI)

The HOYO Delta Initiative offers assistance to people with disabilities to identify and locate safe, affordable housing and community-based supports needed to empower people with disabilities in their quest for independence and community inclusion in 21 counties in the Mississippi Delta.

HOYO Delta staff holds regular home buyer education classes in various locations in the Delta. From IDS’ housing office in Indianola, staff has assisted over 200 individuals and their families with homebuyer education and counseling. Fifty-five individuals and their families in the Delta have become homeowners.

Assistance provided includes

group home buyer education training
pre-purchase counseling
post-purchase counseling
financial assistance when grant funds are available for downpayment assistance
coordination of additional resources needed by borrowers
