Project PREPARE, funded by the Mississippi Department of Human Services (GR# 525Q7481A), provides professional development opportunities, support, and resources to enable educational programs to better serve children with special needs and their families. The project is coordinated by the Institute for Disability Studies at The University of Southern Mississippi.

MISSION

  • To improve the quality of care for Mississippi children in licensed child care settings through statewide training/technical assistance and evaluation of child care centers.

  • To increase the professional development opportunities for Mississippi 's child care workforce while promoting age-appropriate activities in the areas of language, literacy, and numeracy.

  • To encourage the use of recommended best practices in the inclusion of preschool children who are at high risk due to disabilities, chronic health impairments, or poor environmental living conditions.
