Pediatric Evaluation and Developmental Services (PEDS)

Parents, at some point, may need information and support concerning their child’s learning, growth and development…

The PEDS team believes that

  • Family members, along with a team of pediatric professionals, comprise the best team for assessing a child’s developmental needs.

  • Natural environments where children learn, grow and develop must be used to gain accurate developmental information and information concerning child and family needs.

  • Evaluation of a child’s actions and interactions during play is the most accurate and meaningful way to analyze development.

  • Evaluations are best completed in cooperation with multiple disciplines and with input from community services and professionals.

  • Developmental Pediatricians

  • Pediatricians

  • Nurse Practitioners

  • Physical Therapists

  • Occupational Therapists

  • Speech and Language Pathologists

  • Social Workers

  • Early Interventionists

  • Special Educators

Key components of the evaluation are:

  • Medical and developmental evaluations to identify developmental or health-related disorders and for the purposes of intervention planning and determination of program/service eligibility.

  • Evaluation reports including results and recommendations.

  • Information concerning family and community services.

  • Referrals to appropriate services.
