SAM - First Graduating Class - Service Animals of Mississippi (SAM) graduated its first class of trained service animal teams in September 2010. The ceremony was held in collaboration with the ARC of Hattiesburg at the new ARC Multipurpose Facility. Approximately 35 people attended including team members, their families and friends, University personnel, members of the press, ARC staff and members of the SAM advisory council. Four graduating teams - two companion animal teams, one medical alert team and one mobility assistance team - completed client education, team training and team evaluation in August.
