Student Success Steering Committee
The USM Student Success Steering Committee was formed by Provost Denis Wiesenburg in March 2013 as the Student Retention Steering Committee and charged to address issues of student retention and persistence to degree. Comprised of faculty members and chairs from each of the academic colleges, staff members involved in current student support efforts, and other administrators and staff working in key areas of university operations, the 25-member committee met regularly (and, in the fall, weekly) over the course of eight months in 2013.
The SSSC submitted its report to the Executive Cabinet in November 2013. The Cabinet accepted the report in January 2014 following its review of the recommendations and further discussion with the SSSC co-chairs, who have been charged with developing an implementation plan for the recommendations.
